Your website represents your business on the internet and you need to put your best foot forward in presenting your products or services on the web. A quality website makes all the difference in converting your web visitors into customers.
What makes a quality website? A quality website is one that is user-friendly, mobile-friendly and search-engine-friendly. User-friendly websites utilize a clean design, have a clear purpose, have an easy to use navigation system and are fast loading. Mobile-friendly websites reformat themselves to present the content in a readable fashion on desktop computers, tablets or smart phones. Finally, search-engine-friendly websites are built according to the web standards, are fast-loading and target your ideal keywords.
At Noble Webworks we strive to meet those standards with every website we build as we go through our development process. Our clean designs are the foundation of building great sites. Learn more about our clean design philosophy below.
Once you have a great website it is important to maintain it so that it will continue to perform it's best for your business. We provide website maintenance services for clients but we have also put together this free resource of 10 website maintenance tips for your business to help small business owners understand what is involved in keeping your site up to speed.
Our philosophy in creating great web sites is to keep it simple. Simplicity is the key to having an easy to navigate site and one that loads quickly. Let us consider the following steps to creating a simple web site.
The first step in making a simple web site is to determine the main purpose of your web site. If you come up with multiple main purposes you may need to create multiple web sites or just narrow the purpose. Having a defined main purpose will give you direction for creating all the other supporting pages for your web site. This will also benefit you in doing well on the search engines because it will set your site up with a Theme. The theming concept plays a vital role in search engine optimization.
The second step in creating a simple web site is to be consistent. I will create a navigational scheme that will remain the same for all your pages. Too often you see sites that the links change or relocate for each page on the web site making it very challenging if not impossible to find what you are looking for. Another element of consistency is in the design of the web site. All of your pages should have the same look and feel. This is typically accomplished by using the same header and colors throughout your site.
The last step in simple web site design is to follow the rules of alignment and proximity. The rule of alignment states that every element on your page should be aligned with some other element on your page. The alignment can be right, left, centered or justified. The rule of proximity states that you should group similar items together and separate items that are different. These two rules help to organize your web site and create a clean, simple look.
